Cruise to film 'Rock' scenes in Florida

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Apr 1 (UPI) -- Actor blackamoor Cruise is to film scenes for his music-themed flick musical "Rock of Ages" incoming period in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., officials said.

Featuring penalization by Bon Jovi, Styx, Journey and Whitesnake, the big-screen adjustment of the street show will co-star Alec Baldwin, Paul Giamatti, Mary J. Blige and Julianne Hough.

"We're thrilled. This is a major production," the South Florida Sun Sentinel quoted Broward County Film Commissioner Noelle diplomatist as saying.

She went on to say she hopes the creation brings tourists, as well as jobs, to the area.

"Everybody wants to become wager where a film has been made," diplomatist said.

Fort Lauderdale will be doubling for Venice Beach, Calif., the musical's setting, the newspaper said.
