Ringo Starr's birthplace may be demolished

LIVERPOOL, England, April 20 (UPI) -- The concern where Beatles drummer Ringo drummer was born in the English opening of metropolis touched a travel fireman to conclusion Tuesday.

Starr, then Richard Starkey, spent the first few years of his life in the terrace concern at 9 Madryn Street after his birth in 1940. The metropolis Council authorised conclusion of several blocks of houses, the metropolis Echo reported.

The Atlantic in the Toxteth neighborhood of metropolis is famous as Welsh Streets because the age houses were originally inhabited mainly by workers who had become to the city from Wales.

Preservationists and supporters of the conclusion came to the gathering and debated the issue, the Echo said. One group argued the houses should be renovated as an important conception of Liverpool's history while the other said they are unsalvageable.

After his uprise to fame, Ringo drummer cut most of his ties to Liverpool. In 2005, when planners planned rebuilding his birthplace as conception of a Museum of metropolis Life, he argued the concern was worthless, a Wikipedia place indicates.

Communities Secretary Eric Pickles must approve the demolition, the BBC reported.
